The best poop tracker apps in 2026, compared honestly
Full disclosure first: we make PoopAI. So instead of telling you we’re the best, here’s what each app says about itself on its own website or store listing, checked on November 5, 2026, and who each one seems to suit. Where an app does something PoopAI doesn’t, we say so.
Which poop tracker should I pick? (quick answer)
| If you want… | Look at | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The fastest log: Bristol type, photo, meal, done | PoopAI | Photo or text meals, trigger tags, AI photo analysis, weekly reports |
| A full symptom diary and a doctor PDF | Plop, Poopier or Tummi | All three log symptoms and describe PDF reports |
| Free extras like pee, periods and family profiles | Happy Poop | Broad free diary with charts and sharing |
| AI analysis of stool photos as the main feature | Dieta Stool AI Tracker | Built around photo analysis |
| A guided IBS therapy program (Germany) | Cara Care | Prescription app covered by German health insurance |
| Low FODMAP food ratings | Monash University FODMAP Diet app | The food database, used alongside any tracker |

The apps, one by one
1. PoopAI (Poop Tracker, IBS Fodmaps)
Ours. iPhone (iOS 15 or later) and Android. Free to try. It logs Bristol types 1 to 7 with optional photos, uses AI photo analysis to make logging faster, and logs meals by photo or text with trigger tags such as dairy, gluten, FODMAPs and caffeine. You get weekly reports and trend charts. For privacy, a stealth “HealthAI” mode disguises the app, and the Android listing says poop photos are pixelated. Google Play’s Data safety section says no data is collected or shared, and data is encrypted in transit.
What it doesn’t do: it doesn’t log symptoms, pain, mood, sleep, medicines or periods, and it doesn’t make PDFs. That’s on purpose: fewer fields means you actually keep logging.
2. Plop
iOS and Android, free. Its site says it logs Bristol types 1 to 7, color, pain, bloating, urgency, foods with FODMAP category, medicines, hydration, mood, stress, sleep and energy. It describes automatic pattern detection and PDF and CSV doctor reports; premium adds analytics, unlimited history and report exports. Storage is local-first with optional encrypted cloud sync, and it says it doesn’t sell data. Apple Health integration is on its roadmap. Best for: people who want one app for every symptom. PoopAI vs Plop.
3. Poopier
iPhone and Android, aimed at IBS. Bristol logging and a daily gut score are free, and CSV export is free. Its Plus tier adds photo logging that it says is checked on the device and never uploaded, trigger trials with fixed windows (it gives about 4 hours for coffee, 8 hours for lactose or fructose and a full day for slow fermenters), a two-page 14-day PDF and encrypted backup. No account needed; it also has a toilet map and social features. Best for: structured trigger testing.
4. Tummi
Now live on iPhone, listed in the App Store as “Poop Tracker: Bristol & IBS”. Free, no account. Its site says it logs Bristol type plus color, urgency, pain, blood and mucus; meals with FODMAP groups; and symptoms, periods, medicines, sleep, stress and mood. It compares meals 12 to 48 hours later with your stools. Plus (monthly with a 7-day trial, or lifetime) adds the PDF, profiles and import. CSV export is free, with iCloud backup and optional Apple Health. Best for: iPhone users who want delayed food links and a PDF.
5. Happy Poop
iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, with Android and Wear OS on its site. Free with in-app purchases, rated 4.9 from about 2.8K ratings on the App Store when we checked. It logs Bristol type, duration, quantity, color, mood and photos, plus pee, periods and habits, with charts, sharing with a doctor, an AI assistant called “Zeps”, optional social follows, family and pet profiles, a biometric lock and a “Happy Diary” icon disguise. Best for: a free, broad diary. PoopAI vs Happy Poop.
6. Dieta Stool AI Tracker
A heads-up first: the old Dieta website address now shows unrelated content, so don’t rely on it. The current App Store app, Dieta Stool AI Tracker by Vivante Health, is free on iPhone and iPad (iOS 16.4 or later). It describes AI analysis of stool photos, logging meals and symptoms, trends and export to a provider. It had a 2.7 rating from 3 ratings when we checked. Dieta’s 2021 post says its AI grades consistency, fragmentation, fuzziness, volume and Bristol type. PoopAI vs Dieta.
7. Cara Care
Different category. Cara Care for IBS is a prescription digital therapy (DiGA) covered by German health insurance, not a general tracker. Its site describes a 12-week program with diet, symptom and well-being tracking, a low-FODMAP module, audio-guided gut-directed hypnosis and CBT-style modules. It needs an activation code, and it lists people under 18 or over 70 and pregnancy as contraindications. Best for: adults in Germany with diagnosed IBS whose doctor prescribes it. PoopAI vs Cara Care.
Also useful: the Monash FODMAP app
Not a poop tracker, but if you’re doing low FODMAP it’s the reference. Monash University describes the largest FODMAP food database, over 80 recipes, a digital diet guide, a certified product finder and a shopping list. Many people use it to check foods and a tracker to log what happened. Monash FODMAP app vs PoopAI.
How did we compare them?
- We read each app’s own website or store listing on November 5, 2026. Third-party roundups, like bellySignal’s, were only a starting list.
- We compared what each app says it logs, price model, platforms, exports and privacy features.
- We didn’t test medical outcomes. No app here diagnoses anything.
- Prices and ratings change, so treat ours as a snapshot and check the store.
What should a good poop tracker have?
| Feature | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Bristol types 1 to 7 | It’s the scale doctors use to describe stool form |
| Fast entry | A log you skip on busy days has gaps right where patterns hide |
| Meals with timestamps | Food links need meal time and poop time side by side |
| Weekly view | Patterns show up over weeks, not days |
| Privacy you can see | Clear data policy, a lock or disguise if you share your phone |
| Something to show a doctor | A chart, report or export |
Which tracker fits my situation?
- “I keep forgetting to log.” Pick the app with the fewest taps. That’s what PoopAI is built for.
- “My gastroenterologist wants a PDF.” Plop, Poopier or Tummi.
- “I want to test one food at a time.” Poopier’s trigger trials, or PoopAI’s trigger tags with a paper note.
- “I’m doing low FODMAP with a dietitian.” Monash for foods, plus any tracker for outcomes.
- “I want to log the whole family, or my period too.” Happy Poop or Tummi.
- “I’m in Germany with an IBS diagnosis.” Ask your doctor about Cara Care.
When is an app not enough?
Any tracker is a diary, not a doctor. See a GP if your bowel habits change for no obvious reason, and get urgent help for blood in your poo, black or dark red poo, unexplained weight loss or severe tummy pain. Our what to bring to a GI appointment guide shows how to turn any app’s log into a useful visit.
Bottom line
The best poop tracker is the one you’ll still open in week three. If you want every symptom and a PDF, Plop, Poopier or Tummi will suit you. If you want broad free extras, try Happy Poop. If you want the fastest Bristol, photo and meal log with weekly trend charts, try PoopAI. Give any of them two weeks; if it feels like a chore, switch.

Quick answers
What's the best poop tracker app?
It depends on what you need. For quick Bristol and meal logging with trigger tags: PoopAI. For a symptom diary with doctor PDFs: Plop, Poopier or Tummi. For a free all-round diary that also logs pee and periods: Happy Poop. For a guided IBS therapy program in Germany: Cara Care, with a prescription.
Is there a free poop tracker app?
PoopAI is free to try. Check the app for current subscription prices. Plop, Poopier, Tummi and Happy Poop all describe free use, with paid tiers for extras. Dieta's current app is listed as free. Prices were checked November 5, 2026 and change often.
Which poop tracker apps use AI on stool photos?
PoopAI uses AI photo analysis to make logging faster. Dieta Stool AI Tracker describes AI analysis of stool photos. Poopier Plus says it checks photos on the device and never uploads them.
Which apps make a PDF for my doctor?
Plop, Poopier and Tummi describe PDF doctor reports, mostly on paid tiers. Happy Poop describes sharing with a doctor. PoopAI doesn't make PDFs; it gives weekly reports and trend charts you can show on your phone.
Which poop tracker is most private?
Read each app's privacy page. PoopAI's Google Play listing says no data is collected or shared, and it has a disguised HealthAI mode. Plop describes local-first storage, Poopier and Tummi need no account, and Happy Poop offers a biometric lock and icon disguise.

Plop and Tummi log FODMAP categories, and PoopAI tags FODMAPs on meals. None of them replaces the Monash University FODMAP Diet app, which has the food ratings database.
Do poop tracker apps diagnose anything?
No. They're diaries. Cara Care is a prescribed therapy for diagnosed IBS, but it still doesn't diagnose. Take red-flag symptoms like blood in your poo or weight loss to a doctor.
